The treatment in the surgery that is available for visitors to the area:
UK Citizens - can register with the practice as a temporary resident and receive full access to NHS medical services for up to 3 months. For stays longer than 3 months patients must register with the practice.
This includes people who are 'ordinarily resident' in the UK i.e. this is where they have a home or they are here for a 'settled purpose' and have been here for more than 6 months.
Overseas Visitors - all visitors from abroad are entitled to free NHS treatment in case of emergency - the question of whether an emergency has occurred is made by a GP.
If treatment is required for a pre-existing condition or non-emergency, a charge may be made.
Residents of countries in the European Economic Community (excluding the Channel Islands) and where a bilateral healthcare agreement exists are covered by special regulations.
